PacificSport opportunities for physical literacy

PacificSport opportunities for physical literacy

There are programs, offered locally, to promote physical skills needed for healthy living and for later participation in sport.  My daughter has participated in several PacificSport programs and has enjoyed them a lot.  There is no pressure to compete and a focus is put on participation.  Jennifer Gibson coordinates these programs out of the Pomeroy Sport Centre. Contact her for more information at 250.794.3308 or jgibson@pacificsport.com

Please forgive the short notice in posting for the January event.  The holiday crept up on us.  Hope to see you at one or both events.  Please remember to call Pam to register for the gymnastics session on Saturday.

Daddy and Me Gym Night is always the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Robert Ogilvie from 6 – 7:30.  This month the community Daddy and Me event is hosted by the North Peace Cultural Centre.

We hope to see Dads at either or both events.  We are very proud to celebrate Dads in our community!

Daddy and Me

Daddy and Me

Tonight was our biggest Daddy and Me gym night.  We had 16 dads and 21 kids out to Robert Ogilvie Elementary. These kids got 60 minutes or more of active play.  I am so pleased to be a part of a community where Dads are valued and physical activity is a priority.  What a great night!

Many thanks to SD 60 and North Peace Community Resources Society for sponsoring this monthly event.  For more information, call Jaimelia @ 250.794.7336.

I really loved this blog post from Participaction. It is a call to action for ACTIVE PLAY.

Daddy and Me is a FREE, drop-in gym time at Robert Ogilve gym from 6: – 7:30 pm the 2nd Wednesday of each month.  It’s an opportunity for active play with Dad!  What could be more fun!

Come join us at 9907 86 Street.

Friday is Families in Motion at the CDC 6 – 7:30.  It overlaps with the parade, which is unfortunate.  Being outside and walking is great for families, as well.  But I hope to see lots of you there.

Come join us at 10417 – 106th Ave.

Daddy and Me – November events

Daddy and Me – November events

The Dinosaur event is always super fun and well attended.  You and your little one will have LOTS of fun.  The gym nights have been slowly growing and are a great way to get exercise, learn to interact with others and play in a boisterous environment.  Hope to see you at one or both of the events.

Dad’s and other important male caregivers are essential in the physical, emotional and psychological health of their children.  This book by Neil Gaiman is an excellent, honest look at the irreplaceable role Dad’s play in our lives.  I highly recommend it.

Happy SNOVEMBER!  Welcome winter!  Living here for 37 years has taught me that the best way to survive winter is to keep active and stay involved.  As we transition into winter, I hope you continue to attend these amazing programs.  If you have questions or need help finding programs and activities in your neighbourhood, please call Jaimelia @ 250.794.7336 or email jturner@prn.bc.ca.

The weather outside is frightful but the people are so delightful.
