We have been discussing animals in the winter, specifically Arctic animals and how they keep warm. As a wrap-up activity, we made “Polar Bear Paws” to eat. Not only was it fun and delicious, the children had to follow the steps, count, and use fine motor skills to build the paws. The giggles came out as I referred to the icing as “glue” to stick it all together!!
Duncan Cran StrongStart went on a field trip to the Community Forest again. In the fall we went on a nature walk and once again to see the differences in the winter. We walked through the forest, had a snack and visited the bridge. But the main event was climbing the hill and sliding down. This took a lot of skill figuring out how to get up the hill which was steep, slippery and covered in deep snow. The kids and some moms worked together with helping hands and even resorted to tree roots to hold on to! We are all looking forward to visiting in the spring!!
Please take note of a schedule amendment. StrongStart on February 4th from 12:30-3:30 will be cancelled so Teacher Pam is able to attend some early learning meetings with the district. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
