I can’t believe it’s the 40th annual CDC Talent Show.  I remember dancing in this show as a child and being ridiculously nervous and excited. I remember being there as a spectator, soon after its inception, when it was hosted in the Mackenzie Inn ballroom.

It’s a brilliant event for many reasons.  The show brings us together as a community to enjoy fabulous entertainment.  It offers a venue for performers, young and older to showcase their talents. Lastly, this event raises a lot of money for valuable programs for young children.   I look forward to it every year.

Yet this year, in my current position, it occurred to me that I love this show, for yet another reason.  The entire evening has flexible entry and exit from the performances.  How often can you take children into the North Peace Cultural Centre and then leave when you need to, without judgment or disruption?  The Talent Show is chaotic and fabulous.  You can come and go.  So it’s a perfect opportunity for parents of young children to introduce their children to live entertainment in a safe, fun way.
