Three boys were playing on the circle carpet the other day using the natural blocks I have in the room.
I should say I heard giggling coming from across the room one day and went to “investigate”. lol
I came across the boys sitting on some of my natural blocks, all of which were in different sizes. They would each take turns sitting on the big one, then the medium size one, finally sitting on the smallest and falling off to giggle on the carpet.
Looks like a silly game and sounds like lots of fun was had.
But you know what i saw?
Three little boys learning about size using their bodies. When we are leaning concepts in school environments it is done by usual methods… text book, orally (a teacher giving a lecture) or now with modern technology… watching a video from the web. We forget that when we first started learning as toddlers and little people we used our bodies to teach us about concepts. The boys were having a blast giggling over falling off the littlest block and that there “bums” were too big.. but they were learning about sizes, gravity and balance.
Don’t under estimate the power of leaning with ALL your senses.
